Any vehicle using a Water Cooling System experiences overheating some time or another, this overheating is normally servere and is caused by reasons which is beyond our control.
While attentding to the overheating problem the "Radiator Cap" is normally removed, this happens when there is sill a lot of pressure in the radiator, on removing the radiator cap the pressure from within shoots open the cap and the Hot Water and Steam Spills out and Rushus out Un-controlled, in the process causes serious burns to the person opening the Radiator Cap.
MICOSA designed a Special Radiator Cap Lock mechanism with the main aim to prevent this kind of accidents from happening.
It works as follows:
The lock mechanism is fitted onto the Radiator cap, it uses a key which can be removed when the Radiator Cap is fitted onto the Radiator during normal use.
The Radiator cap CAN NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE RADIATOR WITHOUT this key. (If required this key can also be used as the Ignition key of the vehicle, FORCING the Vehicle TO BE SWITCHED OFF before its Radiator Cap is opened)
When the MICOSA Radiator Cap Lock needs to be removed, the unit is so designed that it will release the Pressure and Steam from with in the Radiator through a Pressure Release Pipe already fitted as standard to all radiators.
It will be trapped (Mechanically) in this position until the Pressure or Steam is completely released, the radiator cap can then be opened SAFELY.
While the cap is open the key will be trapped inside the Mechanism, the key will be removed when the cap is fitted back onto the Radiator after the repair to the vehicle has been done.
